Empowering Students, Sustaining the College.

WE ARE NACO-FUND

An endowment fund set up by The Old Boys through their Association – Namilyango College
Old Boys’ Association (NACOBA), together with the College Board of Governors, to mobilise funds for bursaries to bright but disadvantaged students at the College, as well as support other projects by and for the college.

Vision

To create a lasting legacy of excellence and opportunity by ensuring that every deserving student at Namilyango College can access quality education, while sustaining the College’s growth and development for generations to come.

Mission

To mobilize and sustainably manage resources through an endowment fund that supports underprivileged yet deserving students and strengthens College infrastructure.

Objectives

a) Receive, manage, and invest funds raised and realized to support the construction and renovation of dilapidated infrastructure at the college,

b) Provide student bursaries and scholarships,

c) As well as improve the welfare of staff at the college.

Our Goals

Working with a target of total assets of UGX 1.5 billion in three years, the fund has an ambitious fund-raising strategy that will see resources generated from NACOBA member contributions, donations from well-wishers, and contributions from Parents, friends, and well-wishers of Namilyango College.

Donations to the Fund in cash and/or in-kind could be a one-off and/or regular, e.g., monthly or annual, depending on the donor’s wish. The Board shall invest each gift to the Endowment as part of a pooled fund comprised of a diversified, professionally managed portfolio.

Combining individual Endowments in a single, substantial fund that maximizes returns, increases investment opportunities, and minimizes administration fees.

Current Avenues

In line with the College’s Ten-year strategic plan, and through interest income from its investments, the Fund facilitates an increase in student financial aid, develop more robust teaching programs, invest in new technologies, build and maintain the College infrastructure and support other discretionary causes of the College and NACOBA aligned to the Programme objectives.

Specifically, in the medium term, besides providing bursaries/scholarships for at least ten students per year at the College, the fund aims to revamp the ICT infrastructure at the College, equipping the labs and building capacity for the use of ICTs in all college systems. Additional resources will be required to improve staff welfare and other college physical infrastructure.
